I reached 60 years of age on Jan 1, 2021, I had already decided to undertake a marathon on my #concept2 rowing machine and decided i should use the 'event' to raise money for @havenshopsice , a charity local to me and something y wife and i have been supporting over a number of years.
My father, always moaned about people asking for sponsorship for things which a) they wanted to do and b) which were easy. With this thought ringing in my ears I decided to row 60k, which is an oidd distance in exercise terms, long enough to be hard, not long enough to be truly challenging.
Having come across #ProjectPossible, which was the successful attempt to climb all 14 of the worlds highest mountains (those over 8000m) I was inspired to row the same distance as that team climbed, 115,972m.
The 100k challenge is regularly consider to be the 'ironman' of indoor rowing, so it seemed a fitting challenge to me and i started using the tag #MyProjectPossible on my just giving page, social media and Linkedin.
It occured to me, having watched others face their challenges such as Sir Tom Moore, that others might find similar inspiration form others doing their own challenges
